Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)

Hello gamers,
Todays post is a review of Super Mario Galaxy.
Super Mario Galaxy is the seventh generation Mario game for the Nintendo Wii, and proves that Nintendo is still one of the best game designers ever.
Super Mario Galaxy has been out since November 12, 2007 and has made a whopping 5,190,000 copies, and was the best reviewed game of 2007. However, could it be better than Super Mario 64 (considered one of the best games of all time) and the original Super Mario Bros. (also considered one of the top 10 games of all time)? In the beginning of the game, you receive a letter from Princess Peach asking you to join her for the Falling Star Festival, which happens every 100 years. When you arrive, you are greeted with a large fleet of ships which are controlled by Bowser (Mario’s main enemy) and his son; Bowser Jr. Mario tries to reach Peach, but is knocked off of the castle when Bowser’s ships which are using giant chains to lift the castle from the ground (how original). You are then added by the “Luma”, which are these star creatures that have lost power to their ships because of Bowser; this is one of the bad things about Super Mario Galaxy. They need to think of a new story. In every single Mario game, Peach is kidnapped by Bowser.
Some of the new features they’ve added to the Mario universe is the ability to jump from planet to planet. What I mean is that you’ll have these small planets or platforms that you can jump to. The best part is that you don’t have to worry about falling off of them; you can jump, run and fly on these planets. Although not very realistic, it still is one of the coolest things about the game. Another good thing about the game is the sound. Not only does it sound crystal clear, it music fits with every galaxy you go to. It has a very epic and uplifting feeling to it. Another thing that separates it from previous Mario games is the controls. With the Wii remote, you can spin Mario by flicking the remote back and forth. Or you could send him flying. The controls really are responsive to your actions and it lets you get involved with the game. One of the last things Super Mario galaxy offers is the co-op mode. In co-op mode, you and a friend can play together. One person controls Mario, while the other aims and shoots these things called “star-bits”, which can kick enemies into space or open secret worlds. However, it seems that the co-op mode was an after thought. They should have made it where you could be Luigi or someone else in the Mario universe. Overall, Super Mario Galaxy is pretty hard. With 120 stars to collect, it will take you a while to beat. My only problems with the game is that they need to come up with a better co-op system and make an original plot. Besides that, the game is amazing. To answer my question about it being as good as Super Mario 64, I would say definitely. The game offers everything Super Mario 64 has, only more. Plus the Wii remote makes the game ever better than any other Mario game could have hoped. I give Super Mario Galaxy 9 out of 10.

Well, that's all for now,
HANG TIGHT GAMERS!!

I'm sorry but did you not take on board my other comments? I hate to say it but in my opinion that was an appalling review. Once again we don't need to know the narrative. Some of your facts aren't quite right and in parts your language techniques and sentence structures are also very basic, you need to work on the flow of your piece. Let me find a couple of examples:

"You are then added by the “Luma”, which are these star creatures that have lost power to their ships because of Bowser; this is one of the bad things about Super Mario Galaxy."

If you are going to explain aspects of the story at least make it make sense. Also the sentence "this is one of the bad things about SMG", I'm sure you'll agree isn't one of the best thought out ones out there.

"Some of the new features they’ve added to the Mario universe is the ability to jump from planet to planet. What I mean is that you’ll have these small planets or platforms that you can jump to. The best part is that you don’t have to worry about falling off of them".

Again you are righting this piece too much as if it is a list e.g. "some of the new features are. . ." "What I mean is" is an atrocious sentence sorry and is far too casual as if you are talking to someone. Try to stay away from the "I's" as it very rarely reads well.
And just a side note you can fall off the planets, so you should be more clear.

"Another good thing about the game is the sound."

It's not a list.

"Another thing that separates it from previous Mario games is the controls."

. . .

"One of the last things Super Mario galaxy offers is the co-op mode"

Yeah just keep away from listing things.

And one last thing, Super Mario Galaxy aint as good as 64 :P

Sorry to be so negative it's just that I think you have potential to right very good pieces of writing with just a little bit more thought.

Sawmoc, please use comments on your thoughts of the game. If you want to add anything else, you can email me. If you need my Email address, you can find it on the rules, under my profile. Also, about my writing. I know it's not some amazing work of art, but I'm trying to do better. Thank you for the help though. To be honest though, this wasn't really an analysis as I do usually on my blog. I write for my school's newspaper, and you aren't supposed to make the review/story very long so you can capture the reader's attention. I used my review from the newspaper for this week's blog post. That's why I didn't list everything I possible could.

Fargo,
I would agree that co-op sucks. If they do it next time, they should do it correctly. However, it's better than nothing I suppose.

You'd think Peach would have taken a self defense class by now.....

KingJames,
Peach doesn't need self defense class.....Bowser is too stupid to do anything to her. Besides, Mario always seems to save her so why spend the money?

Fargo,
Well, I'm not really sure. You both are really good. I would say who ever made the fun-ness point on the reviews is the best.
